The Tsuge Wood Four Seasons Hairpin Series - The breath of nature residing at the tip of the blade is the pinnacle of three-dimensional sculpture that breathes life into a single piece of boxwood (tsuge). While inheriting the court decoration techniques of the Tang and Song dynasties, it features delicate aesthetic beauty carved with precision down to 0.1mm.
Lotus hairpin
The craftsman combines "sukabori" (透彫) and "ukibori" (浮彫). On a petal with a diameter of 2cm, 11 layers of delicate openwork are applied, and when light passes through, an illusion of a lotus swaying in the water appears.
Plum blossom hairpin
This product, inspired by the plum blossoms of harsh winter, showcases the exquisite "gyakume-bori" technique. By cutting against the usual wood grain, it recreates the texture of branches bending under the weight of snow. Utilizing five different curved blades, it vividly depicts even the cracks in the bark of ancient trees.
Magnolia flower hairpin
The magnolia, representing the dignity of women, is a masterpiece of "curved three-dimensional sculpture." Using a 3D design blueprint, petals with a thickness of 0.5mm are arranged in a spiral pattern. When touched with fingertips, one can feel a supple elasticity akin to that of real petals.
Butterfly and Love Flower Hairpin
The wings of the flying butterfly utilize the "shadow carving" technique. This technique creates a three-dimensional effect through the gradation of shadows, incorporating up to 30 engraved lines per square millimeter to create the illusion of fluttering through changes in gloss. The antennae are made from the black core material of boxwood, expressing vitality with a natural gradient.
