It is a hard wood that is mainly native to Southeast Asia and was imported from China during the Edo period.
The material is hard, dense, has a large specific gravity, is glossy, and has little warping, making it highly valued for high-end furniture, flooring pillars, decorative items, and more. Blackwood and rosewood are well-known examples.
☆*◎Care Instructions◎*☆
After using the kanzashi, please gently wipe the entire piece with a soft, clean cloth. Oils from fingerprints and other sources may become noticeable stains later, so please wipe them off carefully. Regular maintenance is simple; apply plant oil or beeswax with a cotton cloth.
● Waterproofing process
To enhance the waterproof and anti-corrosive properties of wood, two types of coatings are used: urethane-based resin paint and penetrating paint. Both are safe paints that comply with food sanitation laws. It is not a problem if they get wet in places like the bath, but please wipe off any moisture after use.
